Jacky’s Story: Faithful Work, Lasting Impact
UBORA Means Excellence.
Behind every student’s journey are people whose faithful work makes the next step possible. For 18 years, Jacqueline “Jacky” Saria has been one of those people, serving in finance for UBORA Tanzania and investing in the young leaders growing up around her.
A Door Opens
Jacky grew up near Moshi in a Christian family. After completing her certificate in business administration, she hoped to continue her education. When her family could not afford the next step, her father encouraged her to find work to support herself and help her younger siblings.
That search connected her with Pastor Wariael, who needed an accountant and wanted someone faithful whom he could trust.
What began as a practical next step became a lasting commitment. During her years with UBORA, Jacky has continued her education, married, and become a mother of three. She is now pursuing further qualifications, including a master’s degree and CPA certification.
As UBORA has grown, Jacky has grown with it.
Stewarding What Has Been Entrusted
Sara is passionate about inspiring others to explore their creativity. She conducts workshops and community art projects, encouraging individuals to express themselves through various mediums. Her belief in the transformative power of art continues to resonate with many.
“I think people may not realize how much work happens behind the scenes before they see the impact of a program.” - Jacky
Before school fees are paid or supplies reach a classroom, there is planning, budgeting, reporting, and accountability. Jacky helps steward the resources that turn generosity into daily support for students and the wider ministry.
“Transparency also, and stewardship, matters a lot.”
Two Class 5 girls regularly visit her office, curious about her laptop and stacks of papers. She explains how those records connect to their lunches, uniforms, and exercise books. Through those conversations, they are beginning to imagine accounting as a possibility for their own futures.
Building Servant Leaders
Some of the impact Jacky has helped make possible now works beside her.
A former UBORA student completed secondary school and university before returning for an internship. Jacky mentored him for about a year. Today, he holds a permanent position in her office. Two other graduates she mentored have also gone on to employment elsewhere.
“I have seen the impact,” she says.
Her own faith continues to grow through studying Scripture, sharing God’s Word, and praying with her colleagues. This year, she says, the Lord has been teaching her “to be patient and to accept the changes.”
As Jacky looks toward the planned opening of UBORA’s STEM school in 2027, she sees years of prayer and work beginning to take shape.
In her office, that same story is already unfolding: a former student becoming a colleague, younger girls imagining their futures, and a faithful leader sharing what she has learned with those coming after her.
