Arshad is 5 years old and in his final year of pre-school at our Siha Leadership School in Karansi, Tanzania. Arshad comes from the Mshiraz tribe and lives 13 kilometers from our school which he travels to on our bus. He lives in the village of Sanya Hoe with his mother (Maimuna) who is a housewife and his father (Ally) who is a policeman. He has one brother and one sister who sleep together with their parents on a bed on the floor of a small two ‘room rental. His family comes from a Muslim background. Arshad helps with daily chores such as carrying water, tending animals and collecting firewood.
