UBORA Leadership High School

A key part of the leadership pipeline…

But the pipeline has a major leak at the secondary school stage, as UBORA has no choice but to send primary school graduates away for boarding at affiliate secondary schools.  Far too often, students fall away from their walks with Christ and falter academically, as they are away from home and the support structures found at UBORA Leadership Primary.  As the children reach adolescence in this environment, they often make poor life decisions, including becoming pregnant, which typically ends a young girl’s education.  While the pipeline is working well now, we lose too many potential leaders.

As a parent, imagine that your only option for your 12-year-old daughters’ high school education is to send her away to boarding school. Parents at UBORA’s Leadership Primary School face this every year, and lose many to pregnancy and other poor life choices at crowded, under-resourced schools.

Imagine a developing nation struggling to educate and equip 31 million youth for a rapidly changing world …Tanzania’s education system faces this situation, squandering the potential of countless future leaders to heartbreaking joblessness.

Building and operating the UBORA Leadership High School is therefore a critical piece of the pipeline. It will not only address this challenge with the graduates from our primary school but will also serve a strategic role in the nation. The school will provide first-of-its-kind true STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education, with a Biblical worldview woven into all subjects, along with a hands-on agribusiness focus. This combination will produce graduates who have the mindset, character, and capability to solve critical problems that hold the nation of Tanzania back. Once full capacity is reached six years after opening, the school will be breakeven financially, serve 630 students, and graduate over 100 well-equipped young leaders per year

Project Timeline: First high school freshmen begin in the 2026 school year.

Funding Needs

HIGH School STEM Leadership Team

Consisting of the Headmaster, Second Master, and Academic Master, and School Manager, this team will set the foundational culture of the school, including our Christ-following spiritual posture, operational guidelines for stewardship, and academic standards of excellence.

HIGH SCHOOL STEM Teacher Team

A nine-person teaching team, including highly qualified math, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, English, and other subjects.  This team will be dedicated to not only teaching with excellence, but showing the students the love of Jesus in and out of the classroom.

HIGH SCHOOL STEM Integration Team

Tanzania does not have any true STEM Christian schools, where subject matter is integrated between subjects with a Biblical worldview, and where students learn to solve challenges creatively and collaboratively.  This three-person team will serve as the “special sauce” to help the Teacher Team integrate these principles and provide learning that prepares them to be leaders in the 21st century.

HIGH SCHOOL General Fund

The project consists of developing a unique Christian STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math focus) secondary school that is in alignment with Tanzanian developmental goals, including developing concrete skills in agribusiness.  With 20 years’ experience in successfully addressing known structural educational challenges, UBORA has strong support from the Tanzanian government, ranging from the local District to the Ministry of Education.
